What this content is
Slat & Shade is a research and comparison publisher. We compare manufacturer-published specifications, warranty terms and owner-reported failure modes for backyard shade structures. We have not physically tested these products.
This is not engineering advice, construction advice or legal advice. We hold no engineering, contracting or installation credentials, and nothing here should be treated as a substitute for a licensed professional. Anything load-bearing, anything attached to your house, and anything permit-related should go past your local building department or a licensed contractor before you build it.
Permit, code and zoning statements on this site are general and vary by jurisdiction. Always verify locally.
Accuracy, and its limits
We cite every specification to the manufacturer's own published material with the date we checked it, and we re-verify on the cadence set out in our methodology. We take that seriously, and it still cannot make the site perfect: manufacturers change published specs without notice, listings get edited, products are discontinued, and figures we recorded accurately can become wrong afterwards.
So the content is provided on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Verify any figure that matters to your decision against the manufacturer's current material — the source link is on every page precisely so you can.
If you find an error, tell us at contact@slatandshade.com. We correct confirmed errors within seven days and note the change on the page.

Shade structures are outdoor objects in weather. Assembling one incorrectly, anchoring one inadequately, or leaving one standing in conditions it is not rated for can cause real damage and real injury. Follow the manufacturer's own instructions, which supersede anything on this site, and get a professional involved when the job needs one.
Intellectual property and acceptable use
The text, tables, comparisons and original editorial judgments on this site belong to Magoo Media Group. You are welcome to quote a short passage or cite a figure with attribution and a link — that is how a reference site is supposed to work. Republishing pages wholesale, or using the content to train a model that reproduces it, is not permitted.
Product names, brand names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively. Product imagery on this site is licensed stock or manufacturer-permitted; no image implies that we own, have tested, or have installed the product shown.
